The Springfield Arts Council’s 2024 SUMMER ARTS FESTIVAL welcomes Motor City: The Motown Revue.
“THE MUSIC THAT SHOOK A NATION – THE MAGIC OF MOTOWN!” The story goes, Berry Gordy decided to take total control of his song. So on January 12, 1959, he borrowed $800 from his family’s loan fund to start his own record label, called Tamla.
We in Motor City: The Motown Revue decided if Berry Gordy could accomplish so much with so little, then we have to honor his gift to the world by giving you eight of his legendary artists in one night with our tributes to The Temptations, The Supremes, Mary Wells, Tammi Terrell, Marvin Gaye, The Four Tops, Smokey and the Miracles, and Martha and The Vandellas – as you enjoy the fabulous Motor City: The Motown Revue!
Admission-free event; donations encouraged at intermission.
